The City Sometimes and Interior, Evening Lights are Pierric Tenthorey’s first two short films. Pierric.

Both of these films have things in common with his show Man Framed on White : the same creative team and the same slapstick humour influenced by Buster Keaton, Pierre Etaix, Beckett and Ionesco. Moreover, all three titles have an even number of characters and end with the digit four (fourteen for the first and twenty-four for the other two if you count the comma).

Influenced by French New Wave on the one hand and by slapstick cinema on the other, The City Sometimes and Interior, Evening Lights are a kind of dyptich around male bonding, romantic encounters and loneliness. Will the heroes of these films find true love ? Are their friends sincere ? What memories do they have of their father ? Three of the many questions these films will in no way try to answer…

Gaëtan Bloom (Louis Malle’s Lacombe Lucien, Claude Zidi’s Les Sous-Doués, Philip Kaufman’s Henry and June) took part in both of these films. The City Sometimes was thought « remarquable » by Pierre Etaix.

The City Sometimes

A man wakes up, reads, looks at a painting, thinks about a girl, about his father, goes for a walk, bumps into some friends and goes back home.

Interior, Evening Lights
